Tena Prelec, Assistant Professor at the University of Rijeka and member of CSMK, commented for Luxemburger Wort on the European Commission’s new proposals for the future of EU enlargement policy.

In the article, published on 6 October, Prelec argued that accession should not be seen as the end of the reform process and that the key challenge is to design safeguards that protect the Union as a whole while avoiding permanent second-class membership. She highlighted the opportunity presented by the next enlargement to develop clear, proportionate and country-specific mechanisms, with Montenegro potentially providing an important early test of this approach.

The article is available in Luxemburger Wort: “Ukraine, Montenegro und Moldau in die EU? So könnte es klappen.”
