At the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of Rijeka (Croatia) we are delighted to invite you to the international conference The Power of the Local: Learning from local communities pursuing alternatives to inter-ethnic violence<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When?  <\/strong>Monday, 22nd September 2025, 10:00 \u2013 16:00 hours CET<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where?<\/strong> Innovalab, University of Rijeka, Radmile Matej\u010di\u0107 10, Rijeka, Croatia + online<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This interdisciplinary conference will gather scholars and activists<\/strong> in exploring experiences of local communities in Southeast Europe and beyond who have pursued, or are currently pursuing, alternatives to violent politics and ethnic divisions. So far, we have confirmed speakers from Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Norway, Cyprus, Afghanistan and Canada<\/strong>. The event is supported by the Embassy of Norway to Croatia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference will be held in a hybrid format<\/strong>, with in person and online participation. Participation is free of charge<\/strong>, with mandatory prior registration. The registration will open on 1st September<\/strong>. More information, including draft program and registration link, will be available here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
