It is planned to be offered once a year as the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies\u2019 contribution to the quality of interpersonal relationships and the overall well-being of University of Rijeka employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Conflict Transformation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>John Paul Lederach, one of the leading scholars in the field of peace and conflict studies, defines conflict transformation as a process through which conflicts are viewed and addressed as opportunities for constructive change, with the aim of reducing violence and increasing justice in relationships and social structures through purposeful engagement (Lederach, J. P., <em>The Little Book of Conflict Transformation<\/em>, 2003).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Purpose of the Workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To strengthen the knowledge and skills of University of Rijeka staff members for the constructive transformation of conflicts in both personal and professional settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specific Objectives of the Workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To provide participants with theoretical knowledge in the field of peace and conflict studies, including an understanding of the causes and dynamics of interpersonal and intergroup conflicts, the analysis of violence, different approaches to conflict management, and related topics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To equip participants with basic skills necessary for the constructive transformation of conflicts in personal and professional environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To encourage the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and skills related to conflict transformation, while fostering a network of collaboration and mutual support among participants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Methodology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A combination of theory (40%) and experiential learning (60%) through group and individual exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>12 hours (3 days \u00d7 4 hours)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expected Number of Participants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>12\u201320 participants<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workshop Facilitator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Valentina Otma\u010di\u0107<\/strong> is Deputy Head of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Rijeka and an experienced trainer in the field of conflict transformation. She holds a PhD in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom.
