The Head of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, dr. Marko Kovačić, Assoc. Prof. gave a lecture as part of this year’s Science Festival, entitled “Youth in Space and Time: Generations and Borders”.
Marko based his lecture on the thesis that young people in Croatia are not isolated – neither from their predecessors, nor from their peers in other parts of Europe. Throughout the lecture, he led the audience through the story of young people in a temporal and spatial network: how they differ from previous generations, what connects them with those coming, and how their experiences fit into the broader European context. By comparing East and West, and the past, present and future, he defined what it means to be young today – and why it is not the same as it used to be, or like anywhere else.
