The international scientific conference titled “After Wars: Consequences, Lessons, Interpretations” was held in Zagreb on 21-22 November 2025. It was organized by the journal Tragovi and the Institute of Social Sciences from Belgrade. The conference was attended by 47 authors from 11 countries, among them Dr. Valentina Otmačić, Deputy Head of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Rijeka.

Dr. Otmačić, together with her co-authors Prof. Ružica Jakelić of the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb and Prof. Siniša Tatalović of the Center for Social Research of SKD Prosvjeta, presented the initial findings and conclusions of their new research titled Peace Be with You: Consequences, Lessons, and Interpretations of the Prevention of Wartime Violence in Gorski Kotar in the 1990s. This research, which the three authors plan to publish in 2026, examines the local perceptions of everyday peace in the Gorski Kotar region, as well as the connections between the preservation of peace in the 1990s and the current situation in the area.
