On the International Peace Day, 21. 09. 2024. in Mrkopalj, jointly organized by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the Municipality of Mrkopalj, the Mrkopalj Elementary School and the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of Rijeka, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Peace School in Gorski Kotar was held. A memorial walk was organized during which visitors visited four places of remembrance of the Peace School and its founder Franjo Starčević. In addition to the Mrkopalj Elementary School, participants also visited the house where Franjo Starčević lived, Franjo’s grave in the Mrkopalj cemetery and the House of Peace under Čelimbaša, where the Peace School operated for a number of years.
