Center for Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of Rijeka (Croatia) is launching UNIRI Peace Talks, a series of online seminars aiming at knowledge dissemination and exchange in the field of peace and conflict studies. Significant recent publications and inspiring practical work will be presented during these quarterly webinars, which are open to scholars, practitioners and the wider public.
In the first edition of UNIRI Peace Talks, scheduled for Thursday, 5th of March, 2026, 17:30-19:00 hours (CET), we are delighted to host two of the co-authors of the book Constructive Resistance: Resisting Injustice by Creating Solutions (Rowman & Littlefield, 2023)

Written by Majken Jul Sørensen, Stellan Vinthagen and Jørgen Johansen, this book is a seminal work in resistance studies. It develops the concept of constructive resistance, which occurs when people start to build the society they desire independently of and in opposition to the dominant structures already in place.
Through case studies and illustrative examples from around the world, the book explores how people work for a more just, sustainable and peaceful future combining construction and resistance. While some movements focus mainly on either construction or resistance, the authors argue that those who manage to creatively combine the two are likely to achieve more far-reaching goals and see their results become more durable.

Join us on Thursday, 5th of March, at 17:30 CET at the following Zoom link for an inspiring conversation on constructive resistance in theory and practice. For any questions, feel free to contact valentina.otmacic@uniri.hr
