The University of Granada in Spain hosted the academic aspects of the Second International Peace Forum (II Foro Internacional de Paz) held from October 20 to 25, 2025. As a space that fosters academic, activist, and artistic exchange and reflection on peace from multiple perspectives, the Forum brought together over 100 participants from numerous countries around the world.
Among the participants was Dr. Valentina Otmačić, Deputy Head of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of Rijeka. As part of the panel titled “Education, Violence, and the Economy of Silence: Horizons Toward Global Educational Justice,” she spoke about the challenges and opportunities for developing educational policies and practices that truly contribute to peace, both in Croatia and beyond.
Through active participation in organizing and implementing the Forum, as well as through symbolic acts such as the concert for peace held at the Alhambra Palace and the inauguration of the Peace Park within the Federico García Lorca Park, the city administration of Granada reaffirmed its commitment to building peace at the local level and beyond.
